Pentagon Steps Up Security for Presidential Candidates Ahead of Election

Following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in July, the U.S. Department of Defense has agreed to provide increased security for the upcoming presidential election. The Secret Service, tasked with protecting the candidates, has requested additional military support, and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved the request. National Guard units will provide logistical, transportation, and communication assistance to enhance security measures at various locations across the country. The enhanced support is expected to continue through the inauguration of the president-elect and vice president-elect in January.
