The New England Patriots have decided to start the season with Jacoby Brissett as their quarterback, but teams around the league believe they made a mistake in not starting rookie Drake Maye. Sources within the AFC East believe the Patriots should have started Maye, citing his impressive preseason performance. While Brissett started all three preseason games, his performance was underwhelming, with only 36 passing yards and one interception. Maye, on the other hand, showed promise with 192 passing yards and a touchdown, as well as 32 rushing yards and a touchdown. Despite Maye’s superior performance, head coach Jerod Mayo has opted to go with Brissett due to concerns about the offensive line’s ability to protect the quarterback. However, with Maye’s potential and the offensive line’s struggles, it seems likely that he will get his chance to start at some point this season.
