A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against Patanjali’s ‘Divya Danth Manjan’ toothpaste, alleging that the product contains a non-vegetarian ingredient called ‘Samudra Phen,’ derived from cuttlefish. The petitioner, advocate Yatin Sharma, claims the company misrepresented the product as vegetarian by labeling it with a green ‘veg’ symbol despite the presence of this animal product. The court has issued notices to Patanjali Ayurveda, Baba Ramdev, and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, seeking their response. The court also pointed out that Ramdev himself acknowledged the use of cuttlefish in a video. The petitioner, a vegetarian, expressed distress upon discovering the non-vegetarian ingredient in the toothpaste, stating it hurt his religious sentiments. The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 28th.
