Diab al-Louh, the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, has condemned former US President Donald Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the unified capital of Israel as a violation of international law and existing agreements. Al-Louh emphasized that the decision disregards the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He highlighted that the move undermines the ongoing peace negotiations and the international community’s consensus on the status of Jerusalem, which is considered occupied Palestinian territory under international law. Al-Louh also emphasized the importance of the Arab Peace Initiative, proposed in 2002, which calls for a comprehensive peace agreement based on a two-state solution. He stated that the Palestinian Authority remains committed to this initiative, which seeks to end the Israeli occupation and establish normal relations between Arab countries and Israel.
