Only One Persib Player Called Up to Indonesian National Team, Bojan Hodak Responds

The Indonesian national team, preparing for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers, has only selected one player from Persib Bandung. Despite Persib winning the 2023/2024 Liga 1 season and boasting several national team players, only Dimas Drajad was called up. This is a surprising decision, considering Shin Tae-yong usually includes three Persib players, Marc Klok, Rachmat Irianto, and Edo Febriansah, in his national team squad. When asked about the situation, Persib’s coach, Bojan Hodak, defended his players, stating that they are talented and worthy of a place on the national team. He refrained from commenting on the specific reasons behind the limited selections from his team, instead referring the question to the national team coach. Hodak acknowledged Dimas Drajad’s inclusion in the national team squad, but highlighted that goalkeeper Kevin Ray Mendoza will be joining the Philippine national team for the Merdeka Cup.
