The Chinese Olympic delegation, fresh from their triumphs at the Paris Olympics, arrived in Hong Kong on August 29th. The group, including 65 athletes, 59 of whom are gold medalists, was welcomed with great enthusiasm by Hong Kong officials and sports enthusiasts. The three-day visit will include a welcome reception hosted by the Hong Kong government, interactions with local athletes at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, and several public events. The highlight of the visit will be a series of public demonstrations featuring Olympic disciplines such as badminton, gymnastics, table tennis, diving, and swimming. The delegation will then travel to Macau on August 31st. This tradition of post-Olympics visits to Hong Kong began in 1988, following the Seoul Olympics, and has continued to foster strong ties between mainland China and Hong Kong.
