The NRL has taken disciplinary action against South Sydney fullback Latrell Mitchell for appearing in a photo deemed to have brought the game into disrepute. The incident involves a photograph of Mitchell in Dubbo, NSW, which sparked controversy and led to an investigation by the league. As a result, Mitchell will serve a one-match ban, once he is fit to return to the field, and has been fined $20,000. Additionally, he is required to undergo training, education, and remediation programs. South Sydney has also imposed its own penalties, including a $100,000 fine, with $80,000 suspended, and a requirement for Mitchell to participate in a wellbeing program.
