The Muriangoor Chinnikkal Bhagavati Temple in Chalakudi, Kerala, is hosting its annual ‘Navachandikayagam’ – a nine-day ritual dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The event, commencing on August 27th, will conclude on September 1st. Key ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday will see the ‘Bhadra Deep Prakasham’ (lighting of a sacred lamp), followed by a cultural event inaugurated by Sanish Kumar Joseph, MLA. The ‘homa’ (fire sacrifice) will begin on Saturday morning, with Dr. Moorthy Kalidas Bhatti being ceremonially welcomed to the venue. The final day, Sunday, will feature the ‘Chandikayagam’ and ‘Poorna Hoothi’ (complete offering). Pre-ritual ceremonies commenced on Thursday with the honoring of former chief priests. The event also includes discourses, a cultural evening, music concerts, and other cultural programs.
