Nepal’s Education Minister Promises Swift Action on Unified Higher Education Bill

Nepal’s Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Vidya Bhattarai, has pledged to prioritize the creation of laws aimed at improving the country’s education sector. She confirmed plans to introduce a unified higher education bill in the near future. The minister believes this legislation will be crucial in driving educational reform, emphasizing the need for greater autonomy for universities within a framework that fosters stronger ties with the state and society. In addition, Bhattarai announced the completion of a draft plan for the implementation of mandatory and free education, and reassured the public that measures are underway to incentivize the return of Nepalese students studying abroad.
