The festival officially commenced with Tim Burton’s ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ as the opening film. Notable attendees include Jenna Ortega, Amy Jackson, Cate Blanchett, Winona Ryder, Taylor Russell, and Catherine O’Hara. The festival runs for eleven days, concluding on September 7th. The competition for the prestigious Golden Lion award is anticipated to be fierce, with contenders including Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ Pablo Larraín’s ‘Maria’ starring Angelina Jolie, ‘Babygirl’ starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Queer,’ and Craig and Jason Schwartzman’s debut English-language film, ‘The Room Next Door’. The festival attracts international stars such as Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Tilda Swinton, Julianna Moore, Kevin Costner, Jude Law, and Joaquin Phoenix. On Thursday evening, the world premiere of ‘Pooja, Sir’, a Nepali film directed by Deepak Rauniyar, took place. The director, along with actress Asha Magrati, Richa Sharma, and executive producer Purnasingh Barailay, attended the premiere.
