Nancy Ng, a 29-year-old teacher from California, was among a group of 12 Americans who traveled to Guatemala for a vacation on the shores of Lake Atitlan. However, her trip took a sinister turn when she disappeared while kayaking on the lake. While numerous theories have surfaced, ranging from human trafficking to murder, no concrete evidence has emerged to explain her fate. The only clue is a brief video of Ng waving at the camera as she kayaks across the deepest lake in Central America. According to the kayak rental company, the group returned from their excursion minutes later, appearing nervous and missing one member: Ng. The group left without paying for their rentals, offering no explanation for her absence. Guatemalan authorities were notified 24 hours after the incident, and none of Ng’s travel companions reached out to her family. These suspicious actions prompted Ng’s family to travel to Guatemala and launch a search, even enlisting a private team. The only eyewitness account comes from a fellow American traveler, Kristina Blazek, who claims she was the last to see Ng alive. Blazek’s attorney stated that she had encountered Ng in the water, who decided to swim despite Blazek’s warnings about strong currents. Blazek reportedly attempted to prevent Ng’s empty kayak from being swept away by the current, but when she turned around, Ng was gone. The exact details of Ng’s fate may remain a mystery forever, trapped within the depths of Lake Atitlan.
