Vacaville, known for its recent efforts to boost downtown foot traffic, experienced an unexpected visitor – a mountain lion. On August 17th, the animal was spotted strolling near Main Street, captured on security cameras in the area between West Street and Cernon Street. The resident who owned the camera didn’t realize the incident until recently, sparking concern among local authorities. Vacaville Police Department and wildlife officials are urging residents to keep pets and children indoors, secure food garbage, and be vigilant. If encountering a mountain lion, residents are advised to make noise, maintain an escape route, and contact authorities immediately. Authorities recommend against approaching or attempting to capture the animal.
