Montreal drivers are being warned to prepare for a challenging Labor Day weekend as several major construction projects will lead to road closures throughout the city. The Quebec Transport Ministry is urging motorists to plan their trips in advance, as closures will impact major highways and key thoroughfares, including Highway 40, the Decarie Interchange, and Nun’s Island. The closures, set to begin Friday evening, will affect several critical routes. For example, Highway 40 East will see the Anciens-Combattants Blvd. exit closed for several days, while the Metropolitan Expressway (A-40) East will have a single lane closed at Exit 68. The Decarie Interchange will also experience closures, with access to Decarie Blvd. South from the service road being restricted. In addition to highway closures, there will be roadwork within the city, including lane closures on Jean-D’Estrees Street and the long-term closure of the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) ramp heading towards the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge. Drivers are encouraged to check the Quebec 511 website for updated information and detour routes.
