Montenegro Must Seize the Moment to Accelerate Its EU Path, President Warns

Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović has called for the country to accelerate its European integration path, emphasizing the need to seize a crucial moment. During a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the Globsec security forum in Prague, Milatović expressed concerns about political challenges hindering Montenegro’s progress. He highlighted the deterioration of relations with Croatia, citing recent incidents that have strained neighborly ties. Additionally, Milatović criticized the increasing politicization of Montenegro’s public administration, particularly concerning the education and interior ministries, which he argues have undermined the country’s commitment to European values.
