Montenegro’s Anti-Corruption Agency (ASK) has clarified that the role of a council member in a municipal assembly is not incompatible with being a member of Parliament (MP). This clarification comes in response to recent queries regarding the compatibility of these two positions, particularly in light of the new anti-corruption law. The ASK emphasizes that the current law doesn’t prohibit council members from concurrently holding MP positions, as these roles are distinct and don’t involve direct administrative responsibilities. The agency also clarifies that the positions of council president and vice-president are incompatible with an MP role due to their administrative duties within the local government structure.
