Vesna Kljajević, a Montenegrin athlete, missed out on a spot in the final of the World Junior Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru. She competed in the shot put event, finishing ninth in the qualifying B group with a throw of 13.72 meters. This placed her 21st overall out of 25 competitors. Only the top 12 athletes advanced to the final. Kljajević, who will be moving to the United States to attend the University of North Carolina after the championships, was the only Montenegrin representative at the event. She qualified with a shot put distance of 14.89 meters. The World Junior Championships brought together 1,720 athletes from 134 countries. Kljajević was accompanied by her coach, Danilo Ristić.
