The late CEO of Mombasa Cement Ltd, Hasmukh Patel, will be cremated on Sunday in Mombasa, with President William Ruto expected to attend. The cremation will be held at a later time than customary for Hindu rituals due to a special request from the family. President Ruto, who had a close relationship with Patel, will be flying to Mombasa over the weekend to attend the cremation and visit the family. The event will take place following his Nyanza tour. Ruto will also be in Mombasa for the ASK Show next week. Other dignitaries are expected to attend the cremation, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who will visit the family in Nyali before the ceremony. Patel’s Sahajanand Special School, which provides education for over 1,500 special needs learners, will continue its operations. Several leaders have expressed their condolences, highlighting Patel’s contributions to the education and health sectors in Mombasa.
