The Mexican Green Party (PVEM) has announced a strategic move to cede 15 of its parliamentary members to Morena, the ruling party, in the upcoming LXVI Legislature starting on September 1st. This decision comes as part of a parliamentary agreement to support Morena’s leadership in the Joint Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) for the next three years. The PVEM’s coordination with Morena will also ensure support for their environmental and disability proposals. Carlos Alberto Puente Salas, the PVEM’s parliamentary coordinator, stated that this strategy is designed to fulfill campaign promises and align with the government project led by the newly elected president, Claudia Sheinbaum. While the PVEM will temporarily chair the board of directors for one year, as per legal mandates, they will not assume the leadership of the Jucopo. This strategic alliance represents a shift in parliamentary dynamics, focusing on internal strengthening and delivering on electoral commitments.
