As the new school year begins in Israel, a recent survey highlights a growing mental health crisis among students. A study conducted by the Beit Berl Academic College reveals that 40% of parents reported a decline in their children’s mental health over the past year. The survey, conducted by the Roshnik Research Institute, also found that 42% of parents in the north and south of Israel, and 44% of parents in the Arab community, reported particularly difficult circumstances for their children. Additionally, 48% of students preparing for their final year of high school reported a deterioration in their mental health, indicating a significant issue affecting adolescents. Experts warn that this alarming trend, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing tensions, necessitates immediate action to strengthen support systems for students and educators.
