The 88th Mainz Wine Festival opened under a scorching sun on Thursday evening, with the traditional cannon fire marking the start of the event. Despite the heat, attendees flocked to the festival, enjoying regional wines and the lively atmosphere. The reigning Rhineland-Palatinate Wine Queen, Annalena Baum, praised the festival’s ‘cool concept,’ while acknowledging the challenging temperatures. Over 60 wineries are participating in the eight-day event, offering a wide selection of wines and engaging with potential customers. For the first time, attendees can order their favorite wines online for delivery directly to their homes. The festival, featuring children’s activities and an arts and crafts market, will run until Sunday. It will resume next week for its second round.
