Macedonia is strengthening its cybersecurity infrastructure, according to Digital Transformation Minister Stefan Andonovski. The country has been increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, prompting the government to prioritize cybersecurity measures. A new National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2024-2028 is being developed, with input from experts across various fields. This strategy will align with European Union directives, including the NIS2 Directive. The government recognizes the crucial role of cybersecurity in the country’s development and prosperity. The initiative is part of a project funded by the UK government, aimed at raising awareness, building capacity, and fostering positive change in cybersecurity practices within Macedonia.
