Lisbon Police Officer Assaulted by Woman in Bairro Alto

A police officer was assaulted in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Lisbon’s Bairro Alto neighborhood. The incident occurred in Largo Trindade Coelho, where police were called to respond to reports of public disturbances. While intervening, an unidentified woman assaulted the officer with a slap. The suspect was subsequently apprehended by authorities. The officer sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. This incident comes after another recent case of assault on a law enforcement officer, where a prison guard was punched by an inmate at the Caxias prison.
