Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the return of the ‘Ounje Eko’ market, a program offering discounted food prices, starting this Sunday. The initiative, aimed at tackling rising food costs, will see a 25% price reduction on various food items across all five divisions of Lagos. The ‘Ounje Eko’ market previously ran as a pilot program from March 17th, 2024, providing relief to residents. The governor’s decision to reinstate the program comes in response to public concerns about the impact of inflation on food prices. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, confirmed that while the discount will be consistent, the actual prices may vary across locations based on prevailing market rates.
