Swift Reservoir is a prime destination for rainbow trout fishing this Labor Day weekend (August 31st – September 2nd). Anglers are reporting good catches, particularly those using trolling techniques with 5 ounces of weight and 80+ feet of line out. The lower end of the reservoir tends to be most productive in late summer. However, boaters should be aware that the water elevation at Swift Forest Camp boat ramp is currently at 978 feet. At elevations below 975 feet, launching, especially for larger boats, becomes difficult. It is highly likely that water levels will drop below 975 feet after Labor Day. This weekend presents a great opportunity for a successful fishing trip at Swift Reservoir before the water level drops.
