The Kerala High Court has overturned the life imprisonment sentences handed down to three defendants in the 2010 Shafi murder case. The court, presided over by Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and G. Girish, found that the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence to convict the defendants, Babu, Anil Kumar, and Santosh. The fourth defendant, Kannan, died during the trial. The murder stemmed from a dispute over a vehicle collision in 2010, ultimately leading to Shafi’s death from stab wounds. While the Kollam Sessions Court had initially convicted the defendants, they appealed the verdict, leading to this acquittal.
