The Kerala government has fully funded the ‘Kudumbashree’ food program, aimed at providing affordable meals through community-run restaurants. The program, a flagship initiative of the Kudumbashree mission, is known for its successful entrepreneurial ventures. The state government has provided complete financial support for this initiative, ensuring that meals are offered at subsidized rates. The program includes the ‘Kudumbashree Premium Hotel’ project and the ‘Lunch Bell’ system, which will be implemented across all districts in Kerala. The government is also launching a new ‘Fresh Bites’ branding initiative, under the ‘K Lift’ project, which aims to create three lakh livelihood opportunities by 2024-25. The initiative focuses on promoting local products like chips and jaggery sweets, sourced from selected units across the state and trained through a two-phase program conducted by the Kayamkulam Agriculture Science Center.
