Kennesaw State University has launched its first video game, ‘Company, Inc.’, developed by the KSU Game Studio. This innovative game aims to promote empathy for marginalized communities by placing players in the role of Maria, a recent immigrant from Colombia navigating the challenges of discrimination and cultural differences in the workplace. Players experience Maria’s daily tasks, including resume sorting and coworker interactions, while facing various forms of discrimination, providing a firsthand perspective on the realities faced by marginalized individuals. The game’s narrative is designed to explore the potential impact of video game storytelling on human behavior and societal understanding. Kennesaw State’s Game Narrative Lab, where students played a key role in game development, aims to create engaging experiences that foster empathy and encourage real-world reflection.
