South Korean public broadcaster KBS is facing financial difficulties and has implemented a special retirement program, leading to the departures of veteran announcer Hwang Jeong-min and sportscaster Lee Kwang-yong. Hwang, who joined KBS in 1993, is retiring after 31 years, while Lee, known for his long-standing sportscasting career, has also left the broadcaster. The special retirement program, which was open to employees with over 20 years of service, saw approximately 30 employees apply. KBS hopes to address its financial woes by reducing personnel costs and improving its financial standing.
