Kartesia, the real estate investor behind Hotelatelier, has acquired the Catalan hotel chain Sunotel, confirming a deal previously reported by Crónica Global. The Franco-Belgian investor plans to strengthen Sunotel’s position in Barcelona and boost its profitability. The purchase, for an undisclosed price but reportedly exceeding €10 million, consolidates Hotelatelier’s expansion and its various brands. The group now owns 42 hotels, including seven in Barcelona, which now includes Sunotel’s four properties. Ignacio Urbelz, CEO of Hotelatelier, highlighted the acquisition as a significant step in establishing a stronger presence in Barcelona. He emphasized the value of Sunotel’s assets and its experienced team, which he believes will contribute to further improvements for both employees and customers.
