The Department of the Chief Justice of Jordan achieved remarkable milestones in 2023, according to the annual report released on Saturday by Chief Justice Sheikh Abdul Hafez Al-Rabita. The report highlighted the significant progress made by the Sharia courts in Jordan, including their efforts in Jerusalem, a key focus area under the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites. The department has made significant strides in streamlining services, offering 158 services through its various units, including 78 Sharia courts across Jordan and Jerusalem. Family reconciliation offices witnessed a 11% increase in cases resolved amicably, demonstrating the success of efforts to facilitate peaceful conflict resolution in families. The department also reported a significant decrease in marriages for individuals aged 16-18, reflecting their commitment to strengthening family stability. The report also noted a 4.8% decline in divorce rates compared to the previous year, indicating a trend towards more stable marriages. The Chief Justice highlighted the crucial role of the Institute of Sharia Judiciary in training judges, judicial personnel, and family reconciliation staff.
