The John Marshall Rockets volleyball team battled hard in their opening match of the season, but ultimately fell to Two Rivers in a thrilling five-set contest. After taking the first two sets, the Rockets ran out of steam and couldn’t close out the victory, falling 24-26, 20-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-15. Layne Meister led the Rockets with 10 kills and 3.5 blocks, while Estelle Mesumbe added eight kills and five digs. Lydia Hak spearheaded the defense with 31 digs, while Brynn Clarey paced the offense with 32 assists. The Rockets, despite the loss, showed promise and are looking forward to continuing to improve throughout the season.
