Jangheung County in South Jeolla Province has successfully selected recipients for its ‘New Resident Hope Housing Repair Grant’ program for 2024. The program, launched this year, provides up to 5 million won to low-income individuals who have recently moved to the county and own older homes. The initiative aims to facilitate a smooth and comfortable transition for new residents by improving their living conditions. This policy expansion extends the previous housing support programs, which were primarily limited to farmers, fishermen, and temporary residents. The county received positive feedback from new residents after opening applications for the program in May. Through rigorous assessment, including inspections of property conditions and financial needs, eight recipients were chosen for the grants. These funds can be used for necessary repairs to the main structure, including roofs, kitchens, and bathrooms. The county officials emphasize the importance of supporting new residents through diverse initiatives, promoting a welcoming environment and encouraging their integration into the community.
