A recent poll conducted in Italy has revealed that a majority of Italians favor ‘Ius Scholae,’ granting citizenship based on schooling, over ‘Ius Soli,’ which grants citizenship based on birth within the country or to children of residents paying taxes. The poll found that 52% of Italians support ‘Ius Scholae,’ while ‘Ius Soli’ garnered less support. The results suggest that a significant portion of the Italian population prefers a pathway to citizenship based on integration and education rather than solely on place of birth or tax contributions.
