A deadly collision between two Metrobuses on Istanbul’s D-100 highway last week has led to the arrest of six Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) employees involved in road maintenance. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, resulted in 51 injuries and the death of 22-year-old Ferhat Uçar. Following the crash, authorities initiated a wide-ranging investigation, leading to the initial arrests of four individuals, including the Metrobus drivers. Further investigation revealed that negligence during road maintenance contributed to the accident. As a result, six IBB employees, including the Metrobus command chief, regional manager, project manager, site supervisor, and the director and deputy director of the Road Maintenance and Repair Directorate, have been apprehended. The suspects are currently being held in custody.
