Ami Dadon, a Paralympic swimmer representing Israel, is set to compete in the 100m freestyle final at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Dadon, who holds the Paralympic record after setting a time of 1:19.33 in the heats, is considered a strong contender for gold. He previously won three medals in Tokyo and has continued his success with additional victories at European and World Championships. Dadon, who was born prematurely with cerebral palsy and has disabilities in all four limbs, began swimming at the age of six at the Ilan Ramon Institute in Haifa. He began training with the national coach, Yaakov Binenson, at a later stage in his career. Dadon’s breakthrough came in the year prior to the Tokyo Games, where he shattered the world record in the 200m freestyle and set a Paralympic record in the 50m freestyle, winning gold in both events. He also added a silver medal in the 150m individual medley.
