Alireza Bakht, an Iranian para-taekwondo athlete competing in the 80kg weight class, secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. In the bronze medal match, Bakht dominated his Serbian opponent Nikola Spajic, winning decisively with a score of 29-6. Bakht received a bye in the first round before defeating Nurlan Dombayev from Kazakhstan in a golden point round. However, he lost his semi-final match to Asadbek Toshtumirov, the world champion from Kazakhstan, by a score of 18-12, thus missing out on a chance to compete for the gold medal. Hamed Haghshenas, the final Iranian para-taekwondo athlete at the Paris Paralympics, is scheduled to compete for a bronze medal in the 80+kg weight class shortly against Nishan Omirali from Kazakhstan.
