Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation for Vadhvan Port, a massive project in Palghar, Maharashtra, aiming to become India’s largest deep-water port. The Rs 76,220 crore project is expected to significantly enhance India’s trade due to its strategic location and large capacity. The port will strengthen connections with Central Asia and Russia, bolstering trade through the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Projected to handle 23.2 million TEUs upon completion, the port is expected to create 1.2 million direct jobs and over 10 million indirect jobs. Designed as a green port, Vadhvan prioritizes environmental sustainability while contributing to India’s blue economy.
