India has taken a significant step towards bolstering its maritime capabilities with the commissioning of its second indigenously built nuclear submarine, ‘Arighat’. This submarine, boasting advanced technology compared to its predecessor ‘Arihant’ commissioned in 2016, is expected to play a crucial role in deterring potential threats, particularly from China. The ‘Arighat’ is approximately 112 meters long and has the capability to launch nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles, capable of striking targets up to 750 kilometers away. The Indian Defense Minister highlighted the submarine’s contribution to enhancing India’s nuclear deterrent and ensuring its national security.
