The Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR) discovered illegal water extractions and floating platforms in the Castelo de Bode reservoir, located in the municipalities of Casalinho Santana and Vale Bom. The GNR’s Nature and Environment Protection Service found four unauthorized water intakes, primarily used for domestic purposes, and two illegal floating platforms for mooring and accessing boats. These activities were found to be in violation of the Portuguese Environment Agency’s (APA) regulations. The individuals responsible for these illegal activities, three men and one woman aged between 50 and 60, were identified and issued environmental violation notices. Fines for these violations can range from 10,000 to 100,000 euros.
