IAEA Chief to Visit Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Amidst Safety Concerns

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will visit the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine next week to assess the safety situation. The visit follows his recent inspection of the Kursk nuclear power plant in Russia. Grossi visited the Kursk plant on August 27th, after Russia requested IAEA involvement following allegations of repeated attacks by Ukrainian forces. He called for both sides to exercise restraint and emphasized the vulnerability of the facilities to potential damage. His upcoming visit to Zaporizhzhia, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, aims to ensure the safety of the facility amid ongoing tensions in the region.
