Hyderabad is facing a deluge of rain, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for the city following heavy rainfall on Saturday morning. The IMD has also issued a red alert for Telangana, predicting extremely heavy rainfall from August 31st to September 3rd. Several districts are expected to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during this period, including Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Nalgonda. Hyderabad itself is likely to receive heavy rains throughout the period, with the IMD predicting a significant increase in rainfall due to the anticipated downpours. Telangana has already received above-average rainfall during the current Southwest monsoon, exceeding normal levels by 12 percent.
