A Romanian minibus was stopped on the M1 motorway in Komárom-Esztergom County, Hungary, after a routine inspection by customs officials. The officials deployed Gucci, a drug, cigarette, and currency detection dog, to inspect the vehicle’s cargo. Gucci swiftly identified suspicious black suitcases, prompting a search that uncovered 3,426 cartons of Bulgarian-stamped cigarettes concealed within. The smugglers, two men in their thirties, were attempting to transport the cigarettes to England for sale. They faced charges of tax evasion and attempted fraud, resulting in a fine of several million forints and the confiscation of the cigarettes.
