Fmovies, a massive illegal movie streaming network based in Vietnam, has been dismantled in a collaborative effort between international copyright enforcement groups and Vietnamese law enforcement. The takedown, announced by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), which represents major Hollywood studios, signifies a major victory against online piracy. This operation, involving Vietnamese police and ACE, led to the closure of Fmovies and its associated websites, including Bflixz, Flixtorz, Movies7, and Myflixer, which together accounted for over 6.7 billion visits between January 2023 and June 2024. The takedown also targeted video hosting provider Vidsrc.to and its affiliated websites, operated by the same individuals behind Fmovies. Two Vietnamese men suspected of involvement with Fmovies have been apprehended by Hanoi police, although they have not yet been charged. The takedown of Fmovies represents a major blow to the illegal streaming industry, highlighting the ongoing fight against online piracy.
