Heavy Rains Threaten Flooding in Bulgaria: Fears of Another Catastrophe

Bulgaria is bracing for heavy rainfall in the southern Black Sea region, raising fears of flooding and a potential repeat of the catastrophic floods that struck Tsarevo last year. The national meteorological agency issued an orange warning for the Burgas region, predicting 35-65 mm of rain in 24 hours. The southern Black Sea coastline, including areas around Shabla, Dobrich, and Kavarna, is also under a yellow warning, with the potential for significant rainfall. Meteorologists warn of possible flooding in these areas, prompting authorities to prepare for potential emergency situations. The 2022 floods in Tsarevo resulted in four deaths and millions of euros in damages, highlighting the significant risks associated with heavy rainfall in the region.
