Hainan province in China is adjusting its peak and off-peak electricity pricing for electric vehicle charging starting October 1, 2024. This is in response to concerns about the increasing pressure on the power grid during peak hours, especially during the summer months when demand for air conditioning and other cooling appliances rises. The new policy will shift the off-peak charging hours for residential, agricultural, and commercial electric vehicle charging stations to 8:00-10:00 AM during the summer months (April-September). For public transportation, the off-peak charging period will be moved to 12:00-2:00 PM during non-peak summer months (October-March). The new pricing structure aims to encourage electric vehicle users to charge their vehicles during periods of lower electricity demand, ultimately helping to balance the load on the power grid and improve efficiency.
