The Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Assembly has formed a new ‘Special Committee for Agricultural Transformation’ as part of its 12th session. The committee, led by Assemblyman Kim Hong-gu (Sangju) as chairman and Assemblyman Yoon Cheol-nam (Yeongyang) as vice-chairman, will address the urgent need to revitalize agriculture in the region. The committee recognizes the challenges facing rural areas, including population decline, aging demographics, and the effects of climate change. To overcome these challenges, the committee will focus on strategies such as promoting large-scale farming to increase agricultural income, attracting young people to the agricultural sector, and expanding smart farm technology. The committee aims to create a collaborative environment, gathering input from rural communities to develop and implement policies that effectively address the agricultural transformation.
