Greece’s unemployment rate climbed to 9.9% in July, up from 9.5% in June, while the Eurozone’s rate decreased to 6.4% from 6.5%, according to Eurostat data. This places Greece’s unemployment rate as the second highest in the Eurozone, trailing only Spain (11.5%). On a yearly basis, unemployment in Greece decreased from 11.1% in July 2022 and from 6.5% in the Eurozone, respectively. Eurostat estimates that the number of unemployed persons in the Eurozone totaled 10.99 million in July, a decrease of 114,000 compared to June. Compared to July 2022, the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 190,000.
