Greek Capital Hit by Violent Storms: Hail, Power Outages and Fires

Severe thunderstorms and strong wind gusts lashed parts of Greece on Friday afternoon, causing disruption in the capital city of Athens and the surrounding region of Attica. The storms, which moved from northern Attica to central Athens, brought with them heavy rain, hail, and power outages in certain areas. The Greek National Meteorological Service issued a warning for continued storms throughout the weekend, predicting rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and potential hail in various regions. The island of Evia (Euboea) was also affected by the storms, with firefighters responding to four separate fires caused by lightning strikes. The storms are expected to continue in the coming days, potentially affecting other parts of Greece, including the Sporades Islands, Evia, Thessaly, Peloponnese, Central Greece, Epirus, and Macedonia.
