Google is gearing up for the official launch of Android 15 on Pixel phones, and as with every new version of the operating system, a new statue has been unveiled at the company’s Mountain View, California headquarters. The first image of the statue was shared by Dave Burke, Android’s Vice President of Engineering, on social media. The statue depicts the Android mascot sitting on a park bench, enjoying a scoop of ice cream. This seemingly simple detail is actually a nod to Google’s tradition of naming Android versions after desserts. While this practice has been abandoned for newer releases, it’s still upheld internally. Since Android 15 corresponds to the letter ‘V,’ Google has chosen ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’ as the theme for this update. The next major update for Google’s mobile operating system will be available soon on Pixel devices, but users of other manufacturers will have to wait for their respective releases.
