Goheung County in South Korea has introduced a new initiative to help its residents with tax issues. The ‘Evening Tax Consultation Service’ is held every Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and is proving popular among residents, particularly those who work during the day or find it difficult to visit the county tax office during regular hours. The service, launched in August 2024, caters to a range of taxpayers, including salaried workers, self-employed individuals, farmers, and fishermen. The consultations cover various tax topics, from local taxes like property tax and vehicle tax to national taxes such as income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax. The consultations are provided by dedicated tax professionals, who offer comprehensive answers and connect residents with other tax services when necessary. In the first month, over 60 tax-related consultations were conducted, and the county expects even higher demand in the coming months. The county’s efforts are aimed at providing convenient and accessible tax support to residents, particularly those who might find it challenging to seek advice during regular office hours.
